Organization Narrative

The Kansas Forest Service offers the following programs to help manage the forestlands and related resources in Kansas: Rural Forestry, Community Forestry, Fire Management, Conservation Tree Planting, Forest Health, and Forest Inventory. More information can be found on the website at www.kansasforests.org. The Kansas Forest Service has two Watershed Foresters available to assist groups with the design and management of riparian forests. One covers the entire state, while the other is specific to the Marais des Cygne Watershed.

  • Stream bank stabilization & restoration

Details:

Stream bank stabilization & restoration Technical resource for design and installation of tree revetments and tree plantings for streambank stabilization and restoration

Additional Services

  • Forest Management - Low-cost conservation tree and shrub seedlings may be purchased for BMPs at http://www.kansasforests.org/conservation/index.shtml. KFS provides technical assistance to conduct sustainable timber harvest following state BMPs.
